InsideouT, exhibited at "Project Tsarino" at the Outpost Gallery, Amsterdam, December 2009

This video work was shot from within the room I was staying during my first residency stay at the mountain village Tsarino. This particular first stay had a big impact on me.
I quasi staged the video, flirting with cinematography. Intentionally picking a specific moment of the day, using the morning light. Working and playing with the experience of being inside a closed space in relation to the outside and visa versa - the outside coming in - the overlap of the two or seeing them as something merging as one.

The overall experience surrounded by nature which was overtaking the deserted village, as well as that of time, had a profound effect on me during my stay. The sun, moon, nature taking its course and our daily activities were points or moments of determining the time of day for me. Perhaps I was escaping the challenges of group dynamics in an isolated place, taking solitary refuge in my room.
It has something reminiscent to a Michael Snow film more as in something that is becoming, it process becoming the film. Zooming out and revealing the surrounding. It somehow feels to me like its a still image, that of a postcard.
